Worship Ideas Christmas Eve – Projection
If your looking for some creative ideas for your Christmas Eve service or a creative way to use media in your worship service check out this video from the Christmas Eve service at our church, Level Ground Mennonite Church. For this service we decided to use multiple projectors to create a different mood and effect for the night. We used ProPresenter and on the middle projector ‘Masked’ out the cross so the image doesn’t project on the cross itself. (see how here) This also gives the sense that the wall is somehow being projected on from behind. For the carols we went with simple white and black lyrics on the sides and motion images in the middle. Any mini-videos we simply used the screens on the sides since we didn’t want the cross cutting out chunks of the videos.
For the kids nativity drama, rather than creating backgrounds out of cutouts and cardboard or building elaborate sets, we simply projected images that fit the scene, ie… sheep, stable, the Star, etc.. this worked great and though it took a bit of time to get the right picture and size etc… it was much easier than building all those individual sets.
*Note we didn’t use a triple-head VGA adapter, although it would have been easier. This setup involved two computers, and two media guys and 3 projectors.
Overall it worked great and the extra projector really added to the feel of the Christmas Eve worship service.
