These Songs are like PB & J… they go great together…
Here are some songs that go well together, hopefully this helps spark some creative worship ideas for your worship set list.
Just a note, sometimes as leaders we feel obligated to sing each song in an exact order cause that’s how it is on the CD or something, but often I find it interesting to finish a song on a verse, or start on a bridge, especially if it helps transition from one song to the other. I also find changing an order helps people remember they are there to worship, not sing through songs.
How Great is Our God (Chris Tomlin) – G
How Great Thou Art – G
Nice and easy to add the chorus of How great thou art to How Great is our God
How Great is Our God (Chris Tomlin) – G Key Change to A on the last bridge ‘Name above all Names’
Your Name (Paul Baloche) – A – Start on Chorus ‘Your name, is a strong and mighty tower’
Our God (Chris Tomlin) – G (Em) – Finish on ‘Our God, Our God…’
Everlasting God (Brenton Brown) -G – Start on Bridge ‘Our God, you reign forever…’
How He Love Us (John Mark McMillan)– C
The Love of God – C
-Same Key, same theme.
Hosanna (Brenton Brown) – G reprise the line in the chorus ‘You are the God who saves us… worthy of all our praises…’
Mighty to Save (Reuben Morgan and Ben Fielding)- G start on ‘Savior he can move the mountains, my God is Mighty to Save’.
Jesus Be the Centre (Michael Frye) – D – finish on 3rd verse, ‘Be my vision, be my path, be my guide, Jesus’
Be thou my Vision – D
Forever (Chris Tomlin)- G – If you finish on the bridge/build ‘Sing Praise, Sing Praise’… you can pretty much go to any other song about praise/worship
Any Song…
God of Wonders (Third Day) – G – Finish on ‘You are Holy, Holy…’
Revelation Song (Jennie Lee Riddle)- G – Start on Chorus (There is some debate as to whether this song is in D or G… for this context I mean the progression D Am C G)
Revelation Song (Jennie Lee Riddle) – G – Finish on Chorus, sounds great with just the voices.
Holy, Holy, Holy – C – It’s not the same key but it’s easy enough to transition…
Yesterday, Today and Forever (Vicky Beeching)- E – ‘You are faithful, and we will trust in you…’
Faithful One (Brian Doerksen)- D – Start on verse, ‘Faithful One…’
Great is thy Faithfulness – C – Start on Great is thy Faithfulness
Happy Day (Tim Hughes) – A – Finish with verse 1 reprise… slow down last line ‘Celebrate Jesus is alive… he’s Alive’
Hope of the Nations (Doerksen) – A – Start on Bridge, ‘In history, you lived and died, you broke the chains you rose to life!’
Holy is the Lord God Almighty (Chris Tomlin) – E – Finish on Chorus, ‘The earth is filled with His Glory’
The Earth is Yours (Gungor)- A – Start on Verse or Chorus… ‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Holy the Earth is yours and singing…’ Finish on Chorus to next song
Holy God (Brian Doerksen)- A – Start on Chorus, Holy, Holy, Holy God
Once Again (Matt Redman) – D – Finish on Tag ‘Thank you for the Cross, Thank you for the Cross…’
Here I am To Worship – (Tim Hughes) – D – Start on Bridge, ‘I’ll never know how much it cost, to see my sin upon the cross’ / Finish on Bridge again…
Amazing Love/You are my King –(Billy Foote) – D – Start on Chorus – Amazing Love, How Can it Be…
Other Cross Songs in the Key of D… How Deep the Father’s Love, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
I’ll probably up this list as I come across ideas… if you have some of your own, leave a comment!
