This year for Thanksgiving service we followed a bit more of a  liturgical feel and style.  Here are some creative worship ideas, songs, and videos If you are looking for ideas for Thanksgiving this year at your church.  I also got to preach (see mp3 below) for this service along with leading worship – which was a bit intense but mostly a lot of fun cause I could really shape the songs before and after the sermon part to match what I was saying.

We did a mellow version (See video below) with a matching fog background.

You Never Let Go

Confession

(From www.anewliturgy.com)

Loving God, would You bring to mind a moment this week where I fell short, where I sinned against You or someone else. Maybe it was something I did when no one was looking…something I said that was hurtful…something I thought… or maybe things I left undone .

Father, please bring my sin to my mind.

Lord God,
I have sinned against you;
I have done evil in your sight.
I am sorry and repent.
Have mercy on me according to your love.
Wash away my wrongdoing and cleanse me from my sin.
Renew a right spirit within me
and restore the joy of your salvation,
through Jesus Christ my Lord.
Amen.

Now and at the Hour (By the Brilliance)

Psalm 103 – Reading

Psalm 103

Of David.

1 Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Communion Reflection

Grace inspires Thankfulness – Legalism inspires entitlement or guilt.  We come to the table with nothing but thankfulness that we are invited to be here.  Congregation was invited to take communion during the next two songs.
