Here’s what our Thanksgiving Sunday morning service looked like this year.  Maybe this will spark some creative worship ideas for you Thanksgiving service.

Today is the Day – Lincoln Brewster/Paul Baloche

Welcome/Announcements

‘Thanksgiving Rant’

I thought it would be effective to complain about something like water at a restaurant, while showing a picture behind me on the screen of someone in Africa drinking water out of a hole in the ground.  With that concept I chose a few simple topics…

-complained about sitting in construction traffic for 4 minutes / Pic of Traffic Jam in LA

-complained about my 1991 Nissan car, it’s lame no working stereo / Pic of Junkyard Car

-complained about my cell phone, battery life only one week, 3G internet so slow / Pic of old Rotary phone

-complained about restaurant food, no selection on menu, croutons in salad to dry and crusty / Pic of people eating rice in Africa

-complained about water at restaurant, no ice, too much ice / Pic of people drinking water out of a hole

-Last slide said, “Sometimes thankfulness is all about perspective”

Forever – Chris Tomlin – We had a food drive this morning so people brought up items as they sang the song.

Hosanna (Praise is Rising) Paul Baloche/Brenton Brown

Joyful – Brenton Brown – First time we did this song and it worked really well, definitely going to use it again!

Testimonies

We had 4 people share testimonies of thankfulness.  One of these was a video.  Here it is.

After the testimonies we showed this video Thankful.

The last line of this video was “Lord I’m struggling, show me what I have to be Thankful for.”  After the video, people were invited to reflect and write down on a card what they were thankful for.  Cards were collected with the offering.

We followed up with a couple songs of thanks…

Great is thy Faithfulness

Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow Reading

We did this reading singing only one life of the doxology in between each scripture.

“Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, don’t forget a single blessing!  He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.  He ransoms me from death and surrounds me with love and tender mercies.  He fills my life with good things.  My youth is renewed like the eagle’s.  O my soul, praise God!  Don’t forget a single blessing!” Psalm 103: 1-4

Praise God from whom all blessings flow…..

“ I will praise  you, O Lord, with all my heart;  I will tell of all your wonders.  I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to you name, O Most High.”  Ps. 9:1

Praise him all creatures here below…..

“Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!  Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious!  Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!  So great is your power that you enemies cringe before you.  All the earth bows down to you; they sing praise to you, they sing praise to your name.”  Psalm 66:1-4

Praise him above ye heavenly host…..

“The heavens praise your wonders, O Lord; myriads of angels will praise you for your faithfulness.  For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?  O Lord God Almighty, who is like you?  You are mighty, O Lord, and your faithfulness surrounds you.”  Psalm 89:5-6, 8.

Praise Father Son and Holy Ghost.  Amen.

Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) Chris Tomlin, John Newton,Louie Giglio

Joyful – Since this was the first Sunday we used this song, we sang it again at the end of the service.
