Combining Edward Mote and John Mayer…
Here’s an acoustic version of the hymn ‘Christ the Solid Rock’. I’ve used it a few times in our Sunday services and it’s gone quite well. Some guitar players will recognize the chords after the chorus from John Mayer’s song “Daughters”.
I’ve been doing some filming lately for a project and since the equipment was all setup, I thought to myself, I might as well jump in and tape a song or two. Here’s the video…
THE SOLID ROCK
Arranged by Dan Loewen – Written by Edward Mote
My hope is built on nothing less
G6/D A D
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
G6/D A D
But wholly lean on Jesus’ Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
D D A
All other ground is sinking sand;
Bm E7 A Bm Em A D
All other ground is sinking sand.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
